U.S. Marine Lt. Col. Robert Castro, a N.Y. native and commanding officer of 3rd Supply Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, and Philippine Marine Capt. Recto C. Pumares, officer in charge of Philippine Transportation and Maintenance Battalion, present opening remarks, April 5, during the opening ceremony to the logistics command element field training exercise of Balikatan 2013 at Camp O'Donnell, Philippines. The FTX is designed to enhance the combat service support skills and capabilities of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. forces. BK13 is an annual Philippine-U.S. bilateral exercise in its 29th iteration designed to enhance interoperability, increase cooperation and strengthen military-to-military relationships.
