U.S. Ambassador David Adelman holds a press conference on the flight deck of the littoral combat ship USS Freedom (LCS 1). Freedom's arrival in Singapore highlights the next phase of an an eight-month deployment to Southeast Asia. The littoral combat ship platforms are designed to employ modular mission packages that can be configured for surface warfare, mine countermeasures, or anti-submarine warfare.
