Local sheep herders, whose family has worked this area of land for over 200 years, watch as Equipment Operators assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 17 use heavy equipment to prepare an area that will accommodate a road leading to a major bridge project. Seabees from NMCB 17 and the U.S. Army's 814th Multi-Roll Bridge Company are working together on a large scale bridge building project located in Western Iraq. Seabees attached to NMCB 17 are taking the lead moving an estimated 70 thousand cubic yards of earth to aid in completion of the 300-meter Maybey-Johnson Float Bridge that will span the Euphrates River. When complete the project will help increase local commerce, trade, and travel for the Iraqi population in the area. (U.S. Navy Photo/Petty Officer 2nd Class Kenneth W. Robinson)
