Incoming Command Sgt. Maj. Gary J. Fowler assumes responsibility of 525th Military Police Battalion during a change of responsibility ceremony at Joint Task Force Guantanamo, May 12, 2008. The 525th provides much of the guard force supporting the JTF's detention mission. JTF Guantanamo conducts safe and humane care and custody of detained enemy combatants. The JTF conducts interrogation operations to collect strategic intelligence in support of the global war on terror and supports law enforcement and war crimes investigations.
