A light armored vehicle carrying Marines serving with 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion unloaded out of a C-17 Globemaster cargo plane during a strategic mobility exercise here, April 24, 2013. The training was designed to teach Marines the basics of loading and unloading their LAV's from a aircraft, making the Marines of 1st LAR a more mobile force. The aircraft can hold up to a 175,000 pounds, and with a maximum airspeed of 515 miles per hour, it is ideal for transporting the vehicles long distances.
