Chief Warrant Officer 2 Cecil Fox, the embarkation planner for 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, addresses safety procedures with the Marines serving with Alpha Company, 1st LAR, prior to a training exercise here April 29, 2013. The Marines learned how to tie down light armored vehicles through a process known as "griping." The griping exercise was designed to teach the Marines the basics of beach landings with their LAVs carried by a landing craft air cushion, making 1st LAR a more mobile force. Landing craft air cushions are capable of carrying up to 65 tons over 70 miles between land and sea. (U.S. Marine Corps photo Cpl. Robert J. Reeves/Released)
