Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handling) 2nd Class Wilmer Ramos, assigned to the amphibious transport dock ship USS San Diego (LPD 22), turns to check the departure airspace as he directs the launch of an MV-22 Osprey assigned to Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 163 on the flight deck of the amphibious transport dock ship Pre-Commissioning Unit (PCU) Anchorage (LPD 23). Air department sailors from San Diego are aboard Anchorage earning qualifications and maintaining proficiency while the ship is underway.
