The Avenger-class mine countermeasures ship USS Pioneer (MCM 9) is taxied to the pier by tugboats after being off-loaded from heavy lift ship MV Super Servant 3 at Naval Base San Diego. Pioneer just returned from an 11 month deployment to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility that included operations with joint coalition forces and participation in the first international mine countermeasures exercise.
