U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Jeff W. Mathis III, commander, Joint Task Force Civil Support, exchanges command coins with Israeli Defense Force Maj. Gen. Yaakov Ayish, defense attaché to the U.S. and Canada, during an Israeli Defense Force Home Front Command visit here, May 7, 2013. Ayish and his staff spent the day learning the wide variety of lifesaving and sustaining response capabilities that JTF-CS oversees if ordered to respond to a catastrophic chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear incident in the homeland. JTF-CS provides command and control for Department of Defense CBRN response forces to assist local, state, federal and tribal partners in saving lives, preventing further injury and enabling community recovery.
