The Silver Lifesaving Medal was presented to George Chait, during a ceremony in Battery Park, N.Y., May 20, 2013. The back of the Silver Lifesaving Medal was engraved with his name and date of the rescue. Chait was awarded this medal for his heroic actions while attempting to rescue a couple caught in a rip current in the British Virgin Islands in January of 2012.
