U.S. Coast Guard Fireman Preston Brown demonstrates a ram fan to members of the Trinidad and Tobago coast guard aboard the CGC Oak during training as part of Tadewinds 2013. A ram fan uses pressured water to turn fan blades and blow air into lower compartments in the event of a power loss aboard ship. Tradewinds 2013 is a joint, combined exercise conducted in conjunction with partner nations to enhance the collective abilities of defense forces and constabularies to counter transnational organized crime and to conduct humanitarian/disaster relief operations.
