Soldiers attending the Mobile Pathfinder Course get a birdseye view from 1,500 feet as they prepare to parachute onto Malamute Drop Zone aboard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, May 23, 2013. More than 40 soldiers put their skills to the test as pilots and crews from the 1st Battalion, 207th Aviation Regiment, Alaska Army National Guard, provided aviation support. The three-week course, conducted by cadre from Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment (U.S. Army Pathfinder School), Fort Benning, Ga., instructs students in air traffic control, medical evacuation operations, sling load operations, helicopter landing zones, air assault planning, pathfinder employment, and drop zone operations. Those soldiers who complete the course will earn the coveted Pathfinder Badge.
