A group of Marines and Iraqi policemen conduct a foot patrol in the souk, a bustling market area in the heart of Ramadi, June 9. This patrol would've been out of the question nearly two years ago, when the market and Ramadi were at the forefront of the insurgency. The market area was widely considered by most as a "no go" zone. Within seconds of entering the area, Marines would often encounter small-arms and sniper fire, along with rocket propelled grenade attacks. But, since then, the locals have revolted against the insurgency and have embraced the presence of coalition forces, in turn beginning the rebuilding of the bullet-riddled city.
