Petty Officer 3rd Class Tyler T. Morrison (R), maritime enforcement specialist with Coast Guard Sector Columbia River’s Vessel Boarding and Security Team (VBST), and Deputy Chance Moore, a Marine Patrol Deputy with the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office, conduct safety patrols and boardings around the Astoria, Ore. waterfront, June 9, 2013. The Coast Guard has been conducting joint operations with the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office for a few months now concentrating on conducting recreational boating safety exams and educating the public on boating safety issues and concerns. “Having an extra set of eyes out here is always a plus,” says Moore. “The training and experience the Coast Guard brings is very well appreciated. It’s a great working relationship in which we both benefit greatly.” (U.S. Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 2nd Class Zac Crawford.)
