Hospital corpsmen with Combat Logistics Regiment 27, 2nd Marine Logistics Group pose for the 115th hospital corpsmen birthday after a traditional cake cutting ceremony aboard Camp Lejeune, N.C., June 17, 2013. Hospital corpsmen started out as "loblolly boys" on warships, assisting the ship's surgeon for any medical procedure. Today, corpsmen function as clinical or specialty technicians, medical administrative personnel, health care providers at medical treatment facilities and battlefield corpsman with the Marine Corps.
