Combined Joint Interagency Task Force 435 commander U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Keith Huber (left) and CJIATF 435 protective security detail Army Spc. Matthew Owens (center) use a ceremonial saber to make the first cut of the cake together during the unit's celebration of the U.S. Army's 238th Birthday at Camp Phoenix, Afghanistan, June 14. In keeping with Army tradition, the cake is cut by the unit's eldest and youngest soldiers. A saber is used to cut the cake as a reminder that the Army is a band of warriors, committed to carrying the heaviest of burdens, so that the people of the United States may live in peace. Rule of Law Field Force-Afghanistan senior enlisted advisor Paul Vallade (right) stands in a place of honor as the unit's senior enlisted soldier.
