An M-109A6 howitzer from battery A, 1st Battalion, 113th Field Artillery Regiment, 30th Armored Brigade Combat Team, N.C. National Guard fires a 155mm projectile at a target chosen by forward observers during the national guard unit's annual training at Fort Bragg, N.C., June 10. With forward observers in place, a howitzer can fire with ease and precision from as far as 15 miles away.
