Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) ships JS Shimokita (LST 4002), JS Atago (DDG 177), JS Hyuga (DDH 181) steam in formation with amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4), amphibious transport dock USS New Orleans (LPD 18), amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) and a pair of Landing Craft Air Cushions (LCAC), one from JMSDF and one from the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group (ARG). The ships are participating in Dawn Blitz, a scenario-driven exercise led by U.S. 3rd Fleet and I Marine Expeditionary Force.
