Drill instructors of Golf Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, demonstrate how to knock an opponent down using a leg sweep during martial arts training June 20, 2013, on Parris Island, S.C. Recruits learn various offensive and defensive techniques throughout training that introduce them to the basic level of the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program. Golf Company is scheduled to graduate Aug. 30, 2013. Approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
