The MAFFS 7 interpretive display sits stoically after being unveiled at a dedication ceremony near Edgemont, S.D., July 1. The display honors the North Carolina National Guard flight crew: Air Force Lt. Col. Paul Mikeal, Maj. Joseph McCormick, Maj. Ryan David and Senior Master Sgt. Robert Cannon. Two NCNG airmen, Chief Master Sgt. Andrew Huneycutt and Sgt. Josh Marlowe, survived the mission. More than 100 North Carolina National Guard airmen, soldiers, staff and supporters flew from the North Carolina National Guard’s 145th Airlift Wing’s Air Base in Charlotte, N.C., to honor and remember the crew.
