U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Dennis VanZuiden holds the American flag tightly to his chest during a ceremony at the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 15 Battalion Aid Station, June 28, on Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan. The last time VanZuiden saw the flag was when it was draped over his father Larry Damhoff's casket Oct. 20, 2010. VanZuiden wanted to honor his Army veteran father, who was not bonded by blood, but by raising him and his brothers as if they "were his own."
