The squadron patch worn by U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Luke Thompson and fellow Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System crew members from the 302nd Airlift Wing, U.S. Air Force Reserve Command. Thompson wore the patch during a statement to reporters at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport here July 3, 2013, shortly after the arrival of four military C-130 airplanes equipped with the Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System. The system's equipment is owned by the U.S. Forest Service. It is loaded onto a C-130 and used to spray up to 3,000 gallons of fire retardant or water in order to check the advance of wildland fires.
