Recruits fired 50 rounds in a series of shooting drills. Basic combat rifle marksmanship training is a crucial step in transforming recruits into proficient combat marksmen. Luther is a 22-year-old native of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Grafton, 26, Platoon 1050, Bravo Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, is a native of Lisbon, Ohio. Bravo Company is scheduled to graduate July 19, 2013. Parris Island has been the site of Marine Corps recruit training since Nov. 1, 1915. Today, approximately 20,000 recruits come to Parris Island annually for the chance to become United States Marines by enduring 13 weeks of rigorous, transformative training.
