Goddard Power Plant, the last coal-fired power facility operated by the Navy, will be demolished and replaced in a $62 million military construction project on Naval Support Facility Indian Head, Md. The plant will be replaced by a natural-gas cogeneration facility and infrastructure that will provide steam critical to energetic mission activities as well as 3.5 megawatts of electricity.
