Adm. Cecil D. Haney, commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, congratulates Rear Adm. Bette Bolivar, commander, Navy Region Northwest, after officiating at her promotion ceremony at the COMPACFLT Boathouse. Bolivar, who was born in Hawaii, chose to have her promotion ceremony here to be near family.Her Washington State-based command provides consolidated base operations support for Navy activities in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and Alaska. A former commanding officer of USS Salvor (ARS 52) and Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit One (MDSU-1) in Pearl Harbor, Bolivar received her commission upon graduating from the United States Naval Academy in 1985 and most recently served as chief of staff to Commander, Navy Installations Command.
