Sergeant Jay Hewlett, a rifleman serving with Charlie Company, 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, assembles an M107 Special Application Scoped Rifle during a weeklong SASR training course here, July 10 2013. This is the first time Hewlett, a native of Colorado Springs, Colo., fired the .50 caliber sniper rifle. Upon completion of the course, he will train his fellow Marines on the employment of the rifle.
