The basic cadet trainees of the U.S. Air Force Academy's Class of 2017 begin tent city set up in the Academy's Jacks Valley training area to start the field portion of Basic Cadet Training in Colorado Springs, Colo. July 22, 2013. Included in these 11 days of field training is setting up their tent city, the assault, obstacle and confidence courses, learning first aid and completing the leadership reaction course. They also participate in weapons drills, physical fitness activities and other military training to further develop their physical abilities, teamwork and leadership potential. The field training portion of their basic cadet training ends Aug. 2, when the Class of 2017 will march back to the cadet area. Basic cadet training ends at taps on Aug. 3.
