Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Equipment) Airman Oliver Cairney, from Auckland, New Zealand, left, fights off a simulated attack during an oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray qualification aboard the U.S. Navy's forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). George Washington and it's embarked air wing, Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 5, are currently participating in exercise Talisman Saber (TS) 2013. The TS exercise series is a biennial training event aimed at improving Australian Defence Force (ADF) and U.S. combat readiness and interoperability as a Combined Joint Task Force.
