Major Gen. Lawrence D. Nicholson, 1st Marine Division commanding general, congratulates Lance Cpl. Justin R. Beer, a rifleman temporarily assigned to Wounded Warrior Battalion West, after presenting the Purple Heart during an award ceremony here, July 31, 2013. Beer, a native of Bushnell, Ill., was wounded by enemy sniper fire, May 27, 2013, while deployed with 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, to Musa Qal'ah district, Helmand province, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
