Marines practice knife fighting skills during Marine Corps Martial Arts Program training July 12 near the MCMAP dojo. Marines wore white shirts that showed red lipstick marks, which simulated blood, from their opponents’ knife strikes. Some of the knife techniques the students practiced during the knife fighting skills were forward thrust, reverse thrust, forward and reverse slashes, straight thrusts, and the idea was to focus on killing blows and vital shots to the carotid artery and major organs.
