Brig. Gen. Steven R. Rudder, commanding general for 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, answers questions from local Okinawan media about the arrival of the MV-22B Osprey on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma (MCAS Futenma), August 3, 2013. The aircraft will be based at and operate out of MCAS Futenma, and will be replacing the CH-46 helicopter. The MV-22B Osprey combines the capability of a helicopter with the speed and range of a fixed wing aircraft. Basing the Osprey in Okinawa will significantly strengthen the United States' ability to provide for the defense of Japan, perform humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations and fulfill other alliance roles. Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 262 is part of Marine Aircraft Group 36, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, III Marine Expeditionary Force. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Jeraco Jenkins/Released)
