Construction Electrician 2nd Class Christopher Mattie, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 17, splices electrical wires that will be used for the air conditioning units of one of the South West Asia hut located at a remote combat outpost constructed by NMCB 17. NMCB-17, also known as the "Desert Battalion" homeported at Fort Carson, Colorado, is deployed to Iraq and other areas of operations supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
