Airmen from the 139 Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, 109th Airlift Wing, in Scotia, N.Y., prepare to move simulated Civil Air Patrol patients off of a Department of Veterans Affairs mobile patient transport bus and onto an LC-130 for a practice aeromedical treatment flight Aug. 8, 2013. The patient transport is part of an exercise which highlighted the vital function of the 109AW and 139AES in the National Disaster Medical System and homeland defense mission as well as the cooperation and coordination between the 109AW and New York state civilian medical and emergency management assets.
