YELLVILLE, Ark. – Arend Arends, of Yellville, has enlisted in the Missouri Army National Guard.
Arends will serve with Company D of the Recruit Sustainment Program in Springfield, Missouri. Through the program he will learn basic Army skills and values and become more familiar with his role as a Soldier in the Missouri Army National Guard.
“I joined the National Guard to serve my state and country,” said Arends, who hopes to become an officer for the military.
Arends was recruited by Sgt. 1st Class Douglas McCall of the Missouri Army National Guard’s Ozark recruiting office. Currently attending College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, Mo., Arends works as a landscaper.
Arends is supported in his decision to join the Guard by his parents, John and Bonnie Arends, also of Yellville.
