MILLINGTON, Tenn. - Capt. Christopher H. Heaney, commander, Navy Recruiting Region East, relieved Capt. Gregory Maguire, during a change of command ceremony at Naval Support Activity Mid-South’s base chapel.
Maguire had been at the helm of region east since January of 2012.
“I would like to personally thank each of you for all of the support, resources and watch team backup that you have provided to me over the last two years,” said Maguire. “You have each enabled me to lead from the front, by example, and I am in your gratitude for this opportunity to serve our Navy as commodore, Region East.”
Heaney reports to Region East after a successful tour as the officer in charge of the Naval Education and Training Security Assistance Field Activity International Training Center (NITC).
Navy Recruiting Region oversees 13 recruiting districts providing support to hundreds of recruiting stations and thousands of sailors and civilian personnel.
NRC consists of a command headquarters, two Navy Recruiting Regions and 26 Navy Recruiting Districts, which serve hundreds of recruiting stations across the country. With 70 percent of the world covered in ocean, 80 percent of the world’s population living near coasts and 90 percent of the world’s commerce traveling by water, America’s Navy continues to be forward deployed as a global force for good. Navy Recruiting Command’s mission is to recruit the best men and women for America’s Navy to accomplish today’s missions and meet tomorrow’s challenges.
