LOGISTICS SUPPORT AREA, Kuwait – The 556th Personnel Services Battalion cased their colors, Sept. 12, at Logistics Support Area, Kuwait, as they prepared to return to the United States after a year-long deployment.
The 556th PSB deployed to Kuwait in 2006 to provide personnel services to Soldiers that are fighting the war in Iraq and those that support them.
The command provided support to over 120,000 troops who returned home for rest and recuperation leave and redeployed over 135,000 service members back to their home station. They arranged transportation to move over 100,000 troops and their baggage to their areas of operation in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as processing identification cards, conducting in-coming and out-going briefs and other personnel services.
The command's colors will remain cased until all their deployed troops return home to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.
The 1146th PSB from Montgomery, Ala. replaced the 556th PSB.
