MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Marines with the Ground Combat Element Integrated Task Force received a wealth of knowledge and wisdom when Sgt. Maj. of the Marine Corps Micheal P. Barrett visited the GCEITF headquarters Sept. 23, 2014.
Barrett was greeted by Sgt. Maj. Robin C. Fortner, sergeant major, GCEITF, and sat down with senior enlisted leaders with the task force to discuss the organization and upbringing of the unit. He then held an open session talk with noncommissioned officers, receiving their feedback and answering questions on the future of the Marine Corps.
Barrett concluded his visit by meeting with Marines in Battery A, speaking with them on their experiences in standing up the integrated artillery battery and their mission ahead. He gave each Marine a Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps coin as a show of appreciation for their commitment to the task force.
From October 2014 to July 2015, the GCEITF will conduct individual and collective level skills training in designated ground combat arms occupational specialties in order to facilitate the standards based assessment of the physical performance of Marines in a simulated operating environment performing specific ground combat arms tasks.
