Mobilization and Deployment, DPTMS Fort Bliss

FORT BLISS, Texas -- The 216th Military Police Company, Arkansas Army National Guard, returned to the U.S. at the Silas L. Copeland Arrival/Departure Air Control Group airfield, Nov. 14, after completing an internment and resettlement mission in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Maj. Gen. William Wofford, the adjutant general for the Arkansas National Guard welcomed every Soldier of the 216th MP Co. by shaking their hands as they deplaned the aircraft that brought them home from overseas.

“It’s a great day for the Arkansas National Guard, it’s a great day for the 216th MP Co., and it’s a great day for their families,” said Wofford. “Just like all of our Soldiers we want to prepare them before they leave home to perform their mission, to be sure they are fully trained and equipped and prepared for their mission. The 216th MP Co. has done that. They have gone over there and accomplished what they were sent to do, they’re back and they’re ready to begin the next phase of their military career.”

Wofford means demobilization as the next phase for the 216th MP Co. The Mobilization and Deployment office of the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security takes care of this process for every unit returning from deployments. This process consists of reverse Soldier Readiness Program, administration, medical and morale.

According to Wofford, demobilization is the most important part of a Reserve or National Guard Soldier’s mobilization process.

“If they are not taking care of and identifying medical issues, any legal issues, any personnel issues, right here and get that fixed, it could follow them for years or throughout their career, and so we have to be we get that fixed right here,” said Wofford. Going home and waiting to “fix” things back home would be too late and the 216th MP Co. needs to do that here.

Spc. Dakota Tennant, unit guidon bearer and military policeman, says he is just happy to be home.

“It’s been four months that we haven’t seen our families and there’s people here I know that haven’t seen their newborn kids,” said Tennant. “So yeah, I’m very happy to home and can’t wait to see my family.”

Wofford is greatful to the Fort Bliss and El Paso community for their support to his Soldiers, extending his gratitude to MaD, DPTMS.

“In the same facility we were here not that long ago, we had an engineer unit that redeployed, the support they received from (MaD, DPTMS) and the demobilization process is truly outstanding,” said Wofford.
