FORTHOOD, Texas – Soldiers assigned to the 3rd Engineer Battalion, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, conducted a Combined Arms Breach exercise Dec. 5 at Fort Hood, Texas, in preparation for their upcoming National Training Center rotation.
During the exercise, engineers’ assigned to the unit simulated procedures they follow when crossing a minefield.
Using the M1Assault Breacher Vehicle, Soldiers fired a Mine Clearing Line Charge containing more than 1,700 pounds of C-4 explosives over a simulated minefield to clear a path and allow other vehicles from the unit to safely maneuver through the mine field.
