CAMP BUTNER, N.C. - Eight five-man teams from across North Carolina gathered in Camp Butner March 4-6 for the second annual Sapper Stakes competition hosted by the 105th Engineer Battalion, 130th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade.
The teams tested their knowledge of demolitions, map reading and weapons assembly, to name a few. They were also challenged physically with a 35-pound ruck-march, an Army physical fitness test and an obstacle course.
The team from A Company, 236th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 30th Engineer Brigade, won the competition by a mere 20 points out of over 1,100 possible points.
When asked what helped them win the competition, Sgt. Todd Gremillion, a team leader with the 236th said, “teamwork!"
