    ABERDEEN PROVING GROUND - For his dedication to the principles of duty, honor, and country, Capt. Taylor Duren is one of 28 Army officers who received the 2016 General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award June 1 in Washington, D.C.

    Duren was nominated for the award while assigned to the 28th Ordnance Company (EOD) (Airborne) as the company commander.

    “I am flattered to be recognized for this award. I was out in Utah when I found out and was not expecting it,” said Duren, who is the first EOD officer to ever earn this award.

    The MacArthur Award recognizes company grade officers from the active Army, National Guard, and Army Reserve. Recipients embody leadership qualities demonstrated by General MacArthur, a U.S. five-star general during World War II and exhibit exceptional ability to ensure their Soldiers are trained and ready to meet the highest standards necessary for the United States’ global missions.

    “Captain Duren is the epitome of an effective leader in today’s Army. His is consistently relied upon and has exemplified loyalty to his unit and higher organizations. He understands mission requirements and completes all tasks above the prescribed standard,” According to his nomination letter.

    “As a standards bearer for the EOD community, the 28th EOD (A) constantly emphasizes professionalism and dedication to mission success; I hope this award sheds some much deserved recognition on the great things they do,” said Duren, “The quality of the Soldiers the 28th produces will be the future leaders of the Army EOD career field.”

    The Fort Bragg, North Carolina-based 28th EOD Company (Airborne) is part of the 192nd EOD Battalion, 52nd EOD Group, 20th CBRNE Command (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives), the only Department of Defense formation that combats global CBRNE threats. The 28th EOD Company (Airborne) is the Army’s only airborne EOD Company who regularly serves with the 75th Ranger Regiment, the U.S. Army’s premier direct-action raid force.
