Marines competed in a High Intensity Tactical Training competition June 17 on Camp Foster.
The eight Marines battled to see who could get the best time on three challenging events, which consisted of exercises such as kneeling power ball throws, kettlebell carries and burpees.
The participants left everything they had on the field, according to Sgt. Harold S. Johnson, a combat videographer with Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations Pacific-Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Japan.
“I tried my best to set the bar high for others to beat,” exclaimed Johnson, still winded from performing burpees and kettlebell swings. “But it was a lot tougher than I anticipated.”
Staff Sgt. Daniel Kermeen, motor transport operations chief for 3rd Combat Assault Battalion, III Marine Expeditionary Force, and 1st Sgt. Jennifer Tabisz, First Sgt. for Engineer Service Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 4, Combat Logistics Regiment 3, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III MEF, are the top male and female participants from Okinawa. They will travel to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California to compete in the HITT Championship.
“I’m honored to be able to go and compete for the championship,” said Tabisz. “It would be incredible to be crowned an ultimate tactical athlete.”
The HITT Championship is an annual event that brings the top male and female tactical athletes from each region to compete to be the best tactical athlete in the Marine Corps.
