Tikrit, Iraq – Born out of the muddy river waters of Kansas City, Miss., grunge rock band Puddle of Mudd comes to Contingency Operating Base Speicher, they performed back in 2004, to return to perform for troops on their last stop of their U.S. Military Tour before returning home June 13.

Puddle of Mudd's band includes Wes Scantlin, lead vocals and guitar, Christian Stone, guitar, Doug Ardito, base guitar and backup vocals, and Ryan Yerdon, drums. The popular quartet is known for their hit songs like "She Hates Me," "Control," "Famous" and "Psycho."

"Performing for Soldiers is an honor and I would encourage other artists to do the same," said Scantlin.

During the day, some of the band members hung out at the local Post Exchange and shopped while others went to the rifle range. Taking a tour of COB Speicher, band members stopped to take pictures and sign autographs for fans along the way.

"I would say that I was here to help the Soldiers, but the Soldiers help me out more than I think I can do for them," said Yerdon. "To see what the Soldiers do on a day to day basis, is an educational experience for me and helps me to appreciate being an American," Yerdon added.

"It's good for us to get over here so the Soldiers know how much we appreciate what they do," Ardito said.

Following the concerts end, the band continued to the Main Gym to take pictures and sign autographs for Soldiers until the late hours of the night.

"It's the least we can do to help their morale and to let the soldiers forget about what they do for about 90 minutes," Ardito said.
