Racers visit veterans
by Capt. Richard Boyd
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The 181st Intelligence Wing Company Grade Officer Council (CGOC) traveled to the Liberty Village apartment complex May 20, 2017.
Liberty Village is a new housing development in Terre Haute serving homeless and mentally ill veterans, and the CGOC felt the need to give back to these veterans in the community.
Approximately 14 boxes of household goods, including paper towels, toilet paper, kitchen supplies, laundry items, trash bags, and various furniture pieces were collected from Racers at the 181st Intelligence Wing and donated to the residents.
The CGOC also provided pizza and drinks, and spent the evening talking to about 20 of the resident veterans. The evening was very rewarding for all involved.
Liberty Village is always in need of continued donations, such as non-perishable food items (canned goods, powdered milk, dry goods, etc.), household goods, and daily necessities, such as toilet paper.
The CGOC hopes to continue to support this valuable community asset by holding additional household good drives in the future.
If you would like to donate items directly, contact Liberty Village at 812-232-5681.
