1st Marine Logistics Group
CAMP TAQADDUM, Iraq – Brig. Gen. Peter J. Talleri, commander of the Defense Distribution Center, Defense Logistics Agency, visited Camp Taqaddum, Sept. 20, 2008.
Talleri toured the camp with Brig. Gen. Robert R. Ruark, 1st Marine Logistics Group commanding general, to learn more about the duties and responsibilities of 1st MLG.
"Gen. Talleri wants to receive information from the field to provide better support from the position he's in," said Army 1st Lt. Dustin W. Flowers, 33, aide-de-camp, Defense Distribution Center, from Jackson, Wyo.
The Defense Distribution Center provides a variety of distribution services and information to the Department of Defense network worldwide, delivering logistics support to military services and other DoD customers during war and peace.
The highlight of the tour consisted of Talleri, 51, from Butler, Pa., and Ruark, 48, from Salem, Ohio, driving mine-resistant ambush-protected vehicles through the MRAP training course.
A tour of 1st Maintenance Battalion (Reinforced), 1st MLG, was also on the visit's itinerary.
After a day of learning more about the mission of 1st MLG, Talleri and his staff flew back to the Defense Distribution Center in Cumberland, Pa., taking with them the knowledge they acquired during the visit to provide better support for 1st MLG.
