PHOENIX – Recruiters from Phoenix Central Recruiting Company performed color guard honors on the opening day of the Arizona Balanced Budget Amendment Planning Convention, Arizona House of Representatives, Phoenix, Sept. 12.
The convention is a planning event for the first Article V convention in the nation’s history, in which states can propel Congress to hold a convention to propose amendments to the constitution, if more than two-thirds of the state’s vote to do so.
Capt. James Hur, commander, Phoenix Central Rec. Co., Phoenix Recruiting Battalion, said he was proud for his company to be called upon to present the colors at such a significant event.
“This is a big and historic event and to be allowed to have such a vital role is an honor,” Hur said. “This is the first time someone’s tried to do this in 150 years.”
Hur said the visibility his company receives on the national stage is important from a recruiting aspect, helping influence possible Future Soldiers.
“There are a lot of decision-makers at this convention and they will see our presence here and know we are active in the state of Arizona,” Hur said. “It helps shape and makes our jobs easier when we have opportunities like this, especially when trying to recruit America’s best and brightest.”
The convention runs from Sept. 12 -15.
