Naval Air Station Whidbey Island -- The Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) Whidbey Island held a change of command ceremony on Saturday, October 14, on Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.

Cmdr. Kerri Chase relieved Cmdr. Eric Emery at the ceremony held at the “Can-Do-Inn” on Rocky Point Recreation Area.

During his remarks, Emery reflected on his experiences over his two years in command.

"If I had to sum it all up in one word, that word would be fortunate," said Emery. "I have been fortunate to have a Full Time Support staff to go the extra mile in their jobs and Sailors who have come together as a team who have fun working together. Thank you all for making this place the success that it is. Your hard work and dedication makes it what it is."

Emery will be moving on to NOSC Kitsap as their new Operations and Training Officer.

Chase previously served as the Branch Head for Reserve Officer Assignments N122 at Commander, Navy Reserve Forces Command (CNFRC) in Norfolk, Virginia.

"I am a Full Time Support officer, so my full-time job is to support you," said Chase. "I look forward to working with each of you and can promise you three things. I will learn something new from each and every one of you several times a day. I will work as hard as you do, and we will have fun doing it."

Emery was presented with a Meritorious Service Medal from CNRFC during the ceremony. While in command, the NOSC achieved an unprecedented result of zero off-track programs out of 50 inspected during a CNRFC regional inspection that was conducted this summer.

NOSC Whidbey Island’s mission is to generate mobilization readiness by providing administrative services and training support to approximately 167 Navy Reservists that are assigned to nine reserve units on base.
