Story by Airman 1st Class Matthew Greiner

    152nd Airlift Wing

The firefighters are required to do at least one fire drill every quarter. Master Sgt. Jason Legget, supervisor said this is their first structural exercise of the year.
Leggett said this exercise added a layer of complexity. Due to the fact that the scenario required the firefighter to extinguish a fire on the second floor.
“Exercises like this get the firefighters out of their comfort zone,” said Leggett.
This exercise will also benefit Staff Sgt. Ryan Cuellar, a driver operator, and Senior Airman Nathaniel Roark, a driver operator who are both being qualified to move into higher leadership positions.
Both firemen are trained up to five level, they are currently working on their fire officer one certification, fire inspector one certification, and fire instructor one certification. Once these certifications are complete along with other Air Force training they will be seven level and hold the title of crew chief.
Leggett said as a crew chief they will be in charge of a crew of three to six firemen on a fire engine.
