U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion - Phoenix

GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Phoenix Recruiting Battalion formally opened Estrella Recruiting Station, during a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, May 14, Goodyear, Arizona.

The station, which falls under the Phoenix West Recruiting Company, had been operating out of the Goodyear Recruiting Station, before being given its own station in late April.

Cutting the ribbon was Capt. Eugene Lee, commander, Phoenix West Rec. Co., who thanked a host of community partners, guests and service members for making the recruiting station a reality.

“All of you make our lives much easier with everything you do for us,” Lee said. “This station is where we not only help ourselves, but our nation.”

Also speaking was Mayor of Goodyear Georgia Lord, who said the recruiters couldn’t be in a better location to seek Future Soldiers.

“Lots of young people don’t know what they want to do with their lives and have no direction – that’s something you’re going to give them,” Lord said to the recruiters. “Whether they stay in the Army two years, four years or longer, it’s something they will benefit from for the rest of their lives.”

Having been a military spouse, Lord thanked the spouses present for their sacrifices.

“I moved 22 times during my husband’s 30 year military career, so I know what it’s like,” she said. “You have babies when he’s not there, wash the car, do the housecleaning … and when he comes home you tell him ‘I’m going to do this, you don’t know what you’re doing.”

“But more than anything we’re proud to have you here in our city. Thank you for everything you do,” Lord said.
