Marine Corps Logistics Base Barstow welcomed its new base commander during a change of command ceremony July 19 on Sorensen Field.
Colonel Craig C. Clemans became the 34th commanding officer of the installation since its activation in 1943 replacing Colonel Sekou S. Karega, who is transferring to Camp Mujuk, South Korea.
His previous assignments include his most recent assignment as Director, Marine Forces Storage Center, Marine Forces Logistics Command, Albany, Ga.; Battalion Supply Officer for 3rd Amphibious Assault Battalion; Superintendent’s Staff Secretary, U.S. Naval Academy; III Marine Expeditionary Force Supply Officer; and Executive Officer, Combat Logistics Regiment-25, 2d Marine Logistics Group, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Supply Officer for the 1st Light Anti-Aircraft Missile Battalion, Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Ariz. among others.
Colonel Clemans holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master of Science degree in Leadership and Educational Development, also from the U.S. Naval Academy, a Master of Science in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College, and an MBA from Webster University.
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (4 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5 awards), and Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards).
